1) Total number of books you own Mana aku tahu? I really have no idea... For one, I'm always lending out my books n half don't come back. Besides this, most of the books that have really made an impact on me have belonged to someone else... But.. mmmm... as far as I can remember...around a hundred. I'm permanently broke, remember?
2) The last book you boughtPrep Manual for Undergraduates : Physiology by Vijaya D Joshi
Good book, highly recommended for those who want a quick and logical guide to studying physiology. Is concise but doesn't skimp out on what's important.
3) The last book you readHonestly? One of my damn anatomy textbooks. But the last "book" that I read was a book of quotations I got with
Adele in the Sunway Pyramid MPH
Words on Solitude and Silence , a Helen Exley Giftbook
It helps if I flip through it when I'm feeling lonely
4) Five books that mean a lot to meBelgarath the Sorceror by David Eddings
This book really does mean a lot to me. It's the first book I read that showed me that sarcasm can be funny rather than cutting, that humor can be self-deprecatory, and that looking at the world around me in a different way is not wrong. I love this book!
Autobiography of a Yogi by Swami Paramahansa Yogananda
Again, a book that changed my life. It showed me the beauty of my religion, but more importantly, the beauty of my faith in the One True God. It showed me that my persistent asking of questions was NOT wrong, and that seeking scientific answers was also sonething i had a right to do. But most important... It answered so many questions that I had been asking futilely for years. It is due to this book that I'm a proud Hindu and have such strong faith
The Adventures of the Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton
Imagination has to start somewhere na? This book, and all her other books, just gave it a bit of direction. It's also one of the prime reasons why I'm itching to go to England ^_^
The Railway ChildrenI just LOVE this book... LOVE... LOVE....
Gitanjali by Rabindranath Tagore.
If there was one word I would use to describe this book... it would be... Perfection. This man is and always will be one of the greatest poets the world will ever know. And I was so affected by his TRANSLATED poems. Imagine how much more beautiful they sound in his native Bengali!! Oh lord....
5) Tag five people and have them fill this out on their blogs Adele and
Michelle are already tagged... mmmm who else?.. Lessee. ah,
Elli-chan and
Christine! The two other voraciuous readers who read my blog from the grand total of 5 readers that I have :) Actually... I'm trying to figure out if Audrey does.. oh well.. You're tagged!
In other news, I went to Malpe beach on Saturday! [bouncebounce] For the uninformed,
(Yes, that means you, the lucky sod who hasn't been NEAR Manipal and never will) Malpe beach is a lovely wild beach just under an hour from Manipal. You can't really swim there, as the undercurrents are INSANE, but just being on the the beach... It's beautiful!!! Going to the beach really does make everything seem better. There's something about the sand and sea that has made man wax poetic for years... but I think it's as simple as no problem being able to withstand the constant push of the wind, and unending motion of the waves. Once you see that everlasting, unceasing, rhythmic movement.... it gives you strength. It's as if the world is telling you that at least one thing in your life will remain the same.. This view... This pulse... This beat.. And as it is the compulsion of man to attempt to capture that which they cannot conquer,.. I leave you with these photos of beautiful Malpe beach...
There was a mother and daughter pair just watching the sunset.. I thought they looked lovely :)
